Sexual Medicine & Counseling

Our sexuality is essential to who we are as people and our sexual energy can be a source of creativity, wisdom, and strength.  However, discovering our sexual selves and creating our sexual lives with others can sometimes feel complex or overwhelming.  Changes to our health or relationships, can affect our sex lives in ways that are hard to understand or to accommodate.  I specialize in helping people find more passion, more pleasure, more intimacy in the face of these complexities.

I believe that you are already whole and that sexual problems are simply stages on the way of your continued sexual development. Sexual development can come in quick moments of insight but often requires a biopsychosocial approach, addressing genital function, overall health, thoughts/beliefs, behaviors, and relationships.

“Pleasure is the visceral, body-felt physical experience of well-being – it’s the embodiment of happiness.  With pleasure as our guide, our actions can be informed by what feels right deep down inside.”

The Period Revolution

It's time to bring periods out into the open.

My goal is to help women reconnect with their periods as a source of wisdom and strength. For some women with debilitating  symptoms, hormonal suppression of the menstrual cycle is a necessity.  However, I believe that far too often women are only given one option for bad periods, "Shut it down!"  I believe that with patience, there are other options to support periods, not just suppress them.

This process involves listening to the your period, becoming literate in the ways of your body, and prioritizing your needs. To me, this is what empowerment looks like!

THE MENOPAUSE TRANSITION

The menopause transition can last for 5-10 years, starting in the early 40s. Perimenopause can be a time of intense symptoms as hormonal shifts occur.  For other women, menopause can occur suddenly after being ill or having cancer.  Premature ovarian failure can occur at any time.

I believe all women deserve a comprehensive medical evaluation and an opportunity to review all treatment options - including hormonal supplementation during the transition through perimenopause and menopause.
